Momentous figures

Trumpet fanfare! The grand event occurs: there are 555 million websites in the World Wide Web now. It's nearly twice as many in comparison with the last year's results. The tendency is clear, isn't it?

By the way, do you know that the whole Earth population is immensely huge? To be precise, it's 6.99 billion. Among them, 2.1 billion are Internet surfers. Guess which continent has the smallest number of users online. It's a goldfield for IT development.

My guess is that the continent least explored by the Web community is… Antarctica?
By the way, is there any other statistics except for those, provided by Pingdom?

I find any single source of statistical data unreliable unless the information it provide is confirmed by other ones.

Perhaps, you will be more attentive, there's a special section for the total number of users.

Wait a sec, you're mixing the things up. There's the statistics about the total number of users but not about the total number of the web-sites and the like, and that was the most questionable point in Pingdom's figures.
