Russians prefer Internet

A survey has shown that more people in Russia spend their time on the Internet rather than in watching traditional TV channels.

The trend has helped web portals to lead the Russian media market, local media reported.

According to the survey by a market research company TNS, Russian internet search engine Yandex drew 19.1 million visitors a day in April compared to Channel One, which attracted 18.2 million daily viewers, reported Xinhua citing the Vedomosti newspaper.

An interesting fact is that Channel One, the most popular Russian TV channel, was trampled by the search engine for the first time, according to the report.

To be honest, I don't understand people who have some free time and prefer surfing Internet and reading digital newspapers to watching TV or reading usual papers. I'm fed up with Internet at work. So if I want to listen to the news at home I'll employ a TV box. It's a matter of tradition, I suppose.
