The two former MIT Media Lab students, Dan Siegel and Jennifer Hollett, with the help of the Knight Foundation created a nice application that can check the truthfulness of political adds and of accusations in them. It is called Super PAC App.
The idea is close to those multi-media tagging apps: the recognition is done through recording. So you have to hold your device while the add is showed and then it will calculate the results – how accurate the accusations in the add are, and who the donors are.
The only sad thing here is that at the moment the automatic database doesn't exist and the team does everything manually. Maybe someone will find a way to automatize the process.
Such apps, to my mind, can ease the life of ordinary voters, I hope this project will be a success.
