A tax on electronic devices!

I was amused to find out that the most democratic state, in my humble opinion, the Netherlands were going to ban illegal Internet downloads that breach copyright issues. Just imagine: the world without free music, movies and applications! Luckily, the law wasn't adopted. Instead, the government, as cunning as a fox, decided to charge a tax on smartphones, PC, tablets, etc. The author's message is to make up some money for developers that lose great profit. From the 1st of January on, every Netherlander has to pay the tax on each device that ranges 5-7 euro.

Do you think it's fair?

It is fair, from the objective point of view. But will the developers receive their money the Netherlanders are going to pay the government?

I wonder how the authorities are going to ascertain how many devices you own.

You've asked two very logical questions!

According to the law, money is supposed to be paid to developers but I have doubts whether the government is going to pay it all developers all over the world :)

I also have no idea how the real amount of devices will be detected! I'm not completely sure that the average Netherlander is so honest to name the correct number :)
