Epiphany onE Puck

How often do you get into situations when your phone needs a small charge up? Probably I will guess right saying – often. Modern Android smartphones and iPhones do consume a lot of energy, especially if they are used to watch videos or surf Internet. Epiphany Labs have found a solution to the problem, via using the heat or cold of your drink. A device, called onE Puck, can be used as a drink coaster, while transferring the energy through a USB-cable to your mobile device.

I, actually, doubt that it will be capable of charging your device completely, as drinks warm up or cool down in some time. Though it might save you some minutes of battery life for making a call. It is quite simple in design and is said to be protected from splitting liquids over it, though not being waterproof.

One sad moment here is that it is to be shipped only in March 2014, minding that delays might happen. If I had spare money I would gladly participate in this invention. I think it is a nice device.

I'm waiting for a solar cellphone!

These already exist! Though solar batteries on their back side cover work similar to onE Puck letting you have a couple more minutes for a call. It is still hard to charge the phone to the full using solar energy.
