Yesterday, the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued 11 new patents that attach the right to several crucial technologies to Apple, Inc.
Five of these patents regulate the multi-touch technology, i.e. multipoint touchscreen, multi-touch auto scanning and calibration measurement for multi-touch surfaces.
The rest of the patents delegates rights to use graphic technologies, such as modifying the appearance of buttons depending on the orientation of the device.
Given that most modern devices feature multi-touch screens, this decision of the patent commission can seriously threaten the performance of other hi-tech producers, and even spoil the further development of mobile devices.
And note: this concerns, apparently, not only mobile devices, but also various prototypes of multi-touch desks and boards. Take, for instance, Microsoft's multi-touch desk.
