OS X Mountain Lion: iMessage

As we all remember, on February 16, Apple released its next-generation operating system — OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, though for developer preview. So, these developers continue revealing mysteries about this new product.

As this operating system includes significantly more mobile features than the previous editions, it was quite logical for Apple to improve working with messages. And this was done: the developers replaced the usual iChat with a new tool — iMessage that enables synchronizing messages on all the Apple devices connected to one account. Moreover, iMessage allows exchanging HD images between OS X and iOS gadgets.

iMessage is said to completely replace iChat, which is, though, not confirmed by the creators, who say the latter to be still available in the next OS X versions.

I like the idea that Apple is pursuing a plan to make iMessage available on all touch devices by expanding its user base to the desktop.
